Figures reveal 65 per cent of people with a learning disability want the chance to work but only 6 per cent of people are actually in employment. Many people with a disability have qualities and benefits to add to a business but these are often unrecognised through lack of awareness.
In partnership with United Response Cumbria Chamber of Commerce is holding a breakfast training session 'Disability and Benefits of a Diverse Workforce' on Friday February24 with the aim of creating awareness about disability but also to show you how creating a diverse workforce can help you attract new customers and build on existing employee relations - necessary for businesses in this economic climate.
This FREE event is being held at Foxy's Restaurant, Carlisle United Football Club, Warwick Road, Carlisle between 8am and 10am.
The training is to support employers to embrace social responsibility and make a positive impact in Cumbria. The event is supported by BASE (British Association of Supported Employment), a national member's organisation that represents the interests of almost 200 supported employment service provides across the UK.
