System Training challenges raise £10,000 for Carlisle Youth Zone

A series of charity challenges and fundraising events by employees of Carlisle-based training experts System Training has helped raise £10,000 for Carlisle Youth Zone. Staff across the company’s four training centres in Cumbria took part in a range of activities over six months to help fund the Youth Zone’s important facilities and activities for the region’s young people.

Events including the Cumbrian Run, a Hadrian’s Wall walking challenge, charity motorcycle run to John O’Groats and raffles helped employees gather the sponsorship and donations needed to hit the magical £10,000 mark.

And to celebrate the occasion, young people from the Youth Zone spelt out the amount as System Training chief executive Robin Brown presented a cheque to Youth Zone support services manager Katie Winrow.

System Training has a long history of investing in the region’s young people and it works closely with local schools to promote and deliver award-winning apprenticeship programmes across Cumbria. As a business, it has committed to a three-year Youth Zone investment of £10,000 per year.

As a patron of the charity, the company has also been a proactive supporter of the Youth Zone since its inception.

Robin Brown, System Training chief executive, said: “System Training has always supported the communities in which it operates and it’s encouraging to see the staff getting so involved with charity fundraising. The Youth Zone is an important asset to Carlisle’s young people and we all have a responsibility to ensure its future success.”
