New co-chair for Cumberland chartered accountants

Michael Peile, an Associate at David Allen Chartered Accountants, Dalston, is the new ‘joint chair’ for the Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants. He joins existing chairs Sophie Tyson and Louise Brown.

Michael has worked for David Allen for over 11 years. He says that he always wanted a career in accountancy. He comes from a farming family, and wanted to be able to work within the agricultural community but without actually farming.

David Allen offered him summer work experience when he was 16 and his intentions were always to go back to sixth form and continue on to university as he believed this was the only way to develop a career in accountancy. However, during his work experience he realised that there was another route to become a Chartered Accountant. At the end of his work placement David Allen offered him a job and an apprenticeship to complete the AAT qualification. He completed his AAT and was offered a chartered training contract, completing his final exams when he was 21. Now at the age of only 27 he is an Associate in the firm and heads up the Agricultural Department..

During his term of office, Michael hopes to increase the popularity of the society as well as ensuring all the events are fun and memorable and get as many people involved as possible.

Michael lives with his partner Michelle and two-year old son Josh and his hobbies include cricket and also keeping involved with his parents’ farm.
