Export opportunities for Cumbrian businesses in North and Latin America

Cumbria Chamber of Commerce and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) have partnered in an event that will offer Cumbrian businesses the opportunity to find out more on how to export their goods and services to North and Latin American, considered some of the world’s largest developed and emerging markets.

The session taking place on the 3rd October at Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, 10:00am -12:30pm will provide up to-date information and practical guidance, and brings together two expert UKTI market advisers Paul Eadie MBE, Latin America Market Adviser and Richard Northcote, North America Market Adviser and the Managing Director of a North West company successfully selling to America.

Commenting on the speakers Catherynn Dunstan, (pictured) Events Development Manager for the Chamber says “Both Paul and Richard are “hands-on”, experienced experts in the US export market. From 1994 Paul was the DTI Export Promoter for Brazil and received an MBE in 2000 for services to exports in Brazil. In 2005 he became UKTI’s Latin American Market Adviser in the North West, and has led over 30 Trade Missions to the region, including 12 to Brazil. Richard has 22 years working experience of North America and has worked with over 25 US states. With a personal business interest and an office in Houston, Richard brings strategic guidance and practical experience gained from being an active CEO of a Texas based corporation.

Apart from the UKTI advisers delivering practical advice on importing, warehousing and distribution to North and Latin America, we are also pleased to have Melissa Burton, Managing Director of local business Goody Good Stuff. Melissa came to the UK as a university exchange student from the US, fell in love with the country and established her business in 2010. The company now has retail listings exceeding 5,500 outlets and exports to 21 overseas markets including the US. In 2011 Melissa was named “Best Entrepreneur in Europe, the Middle East and Africa” at the American based global Stevie Awards for Women in Business.”
