Local pudding company win “Oscars” of the food industry

Country Puddings, based at Dacre near Penrith have added more awards to their shelf recently winning three Great Taste Awards; which are dubbed the Oscars of the food industry.  The Great Taste Awards organised by the Guild of Fine Foods is the acknowledged benchmark for speciality food and drink in the UK.  The awards logo is the sign consumers can trust when buying food and drink in local shops.

Country Puddings entered a selection of their puddings, which were rigorously tested and blind judged by twenty five independent experts to reach a unanimous decision in this year's competition.  Judges are made up of industry experts, fine food retailers, chefs, restaurant critics and food writers.  Country Puddings won 1 star for their Creamy Vanilla Custard, 1 star for their Summer Pudding and 2 stars for their Bread and Butter Pudding.  By winning three Great Taste Awards this differentiates Country Pudding's products from the norm and guarantees a seal of approval based on great taste.

This year over 7400 products were entered by 1500 food companies.  1686 were awarded one-star Gold, 608 were awarded  2-star gold and 3-star gold went to 114 products.  The categories  varied from cheeses to sweets and meats, pies, pastas and pickles and of course puddings.

Recently Country Puddings gained accreditation from Gregg Wallace, BBC's Masterchef presenter who said “Country Puddings have taken the traditional British desert in all its forms and absolutely nailed it. There's everything from summer puddings to jam and syrup sponges.  My favourite is the Creamy Rice Pudding”

Country Puddings supply independent retailers all over the UK and have this year begun exporting to Australia and Dubai.  Why not try one of their award winning puddings as part of the Great British Food fortnight which runs from 17th September to 2nd  October.  To find your nearest stockist please visit Country Puddings website www.countrypuddings.co.uk.
