Train operator, Northern Rail, is operating an extra evening train to stations in the Eden Valley on Thursdays on the five Thursdays before Christmas.
People living in the Armathwaite, Lazonby, Langwathby, Appleby and Kirkby Stephen areas will be able to let the train take the strain after Christmas shopping in Carlisle by using this convenient additional service. And for those passengers returning from destinations further away, the service will provide a later connection.
The extra train runs every Thursday from 24 November until 22 December departing Carlisle at 2057 calling at all stations to Kirkby Stephen. There is also a return train departing from Kirkby Stephen at 2200 calling at all stations to Carlisle.
From 11 December, there will be changes to some trains on the Settle-Carlisle line. The early morning southbound train from Carlisle to Leeds will have an additional stop at Lazonby. The first northbound train will have additional stops at Ribblehead and Garsdale and will arrive in Carlisle at 0817. As a result, departures times at stations en route will be earlier than currently. A detailed timetable will be available from stations and at www.settle-carlisle.co.uk shortly.
