Fashion show and an afternoon at the races

The sunniest of Sundays saw over 60 guests looking very dapper for their “day at the races” fashion show, afternoon tea and horse-racing at the George Hotel in Penrith. Dressed for the occasion, there were glamorous frocks and fascinators worn by guests and models alike.

The charity event was organised by Fiona Sellars at the George Hotel, Penrith who worked with Sarah Mossop from CC fashion house. With the help of a raffle, and winnings from ‘the races’ the
team raised £200 for Eden Carers. The Ballroom was the perfect locations for the fashion show which included outfits from CC, Viyella and Austin Reed as well as hats and fascinators from Country Basket and accessories from

Arnisons. Indispursed with the fashion show were three races shown on the large screen which brought the ballroom alive. It was followed by the most quintessentially English of Afternoon teas. Fiona Sellars said “We are hosting a growing number of events in the Ballroom, but this was certainly our most elegant to date and it was nice to see such a varied age range. Everyone made a real effort with their outfits and the models and team at CC put on a great show. The icing on the cake was the fantastic feedback we got from our guests - they loved the clothes and really enjoyed their tea too.” In honour of Ladies Day at the races, there was a prize for best turned out lady which was won by

Penrith lady Mrs Muriel Slee who received a bottle of wine as her prize. Everyone left with ‘goodie bags’ that included vouchers and beauty products from Brockles. Fiona has already had requests for more shows and plans are already in hand for a follow up fashion show in the Autumn.
