Cumberland Farmers Hunt (South) Branch of the Pony Club (CFHS) Combined Training

Cumberland Farmers Hunt (South) Branch of the Pony Club (CFHS) hosted  their Open Combined Training (Jumping and Dressage) Show, on Thursday, 7th June 2012

CFHS held its summer Combined Training competition near Clifton by kind permission of Mr Alan Jenkinson.  We had good entries in all twenty five classes with competitors from CFHS, neighbouring Branches of the Pony Club and also from as far as Newcastle and Glasgow.  The rain mainly held off until the end of the day making the ground a little testing for riders as it did become a little slippy.  Our four Dressage Judges, Mrs Fiona Busby, Mrs Nancey Rowson, Mrs Shelia Campbell and Ms Naomi Garbutt had a long and arduous task as this was also a selection day for the CFHS Areas Teams 2012. The judges commented on how well all the children rode.

In the Combined Training competition the Show Jumping proved to be very inflectional and those who completed the track, which was built by British Show Jumping (BS) course builder John Collier from Blackdyke Riding Centre using the BS area 14 jumps, did well in the prizes.

Our two Burghley Event pony qualifiers were well supported from riders from the North of the country. CFHS has nominated Becky Thompson and Hannah Parkin to take part in the Pony Club section of this prestigious event on September 2nd. 

The organisers thank everybody who helped set up the day before and all the helpers on the day. A special thanks to Jenni Graham, Cath and John Holliday, Cora Siddle, Sarah Holliday, Roger and Susan Woodcock, the first year students from the National Diploma Equine at Newton Rigg, Action Replay Photography, Katie Edgar catering as well as the Committee and Members from CFHS.
