Jubilee events raise £700 for mountain rescue team

Staff and visitors at Park Foot Caravan and Camping Park raised £700 for Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team over the Jubilee holiday. A special Family Fun Day included a duck race, a fun dog show, various stalls, a display by Silverband Falconry and a Tug of War that stretched the length of the site – at least 50-a-side.

Prizes were donated by Barbara Allen and Fiona Bell who own Park Foot and the event was organised by Mark Foudy, Site Manager with help from lots of staff members, especiallyPhil Brown and Helen Smith.

“I’d like to thank everyone who helped out with special thanks to Barbara and Fiona, to Phil and Helen and also to Carole and Ian Runnet and their friends,” says Mark. “Carole and Ian are regular visitors to Park Foot and they played a huge part in making the day such a success.”

“We have thousands of visitors each year and many of them go out walking, canoeing or cycling in the area so we are very aware of the demands put on our local Rescue Team. If we can support the work of these committed volunteers with a bit of fun for our visitors, that’s great.”

John Williams, Patterdale Mountain Rescue Association Chairman and Jacquie Freeborn, Vice Chair of Trustees, received a cheque for £700 from Mark, Phil and Helen on Friday (29 June).

“We get tremendous support from so many businesses around the valley, including many of the campsites, caravan parks, hotels and guest houses,” said John. “This donation is an opportunity to thank the team at Park Foot in particular for all their work and effort on our behalf.”
