Cumberland Farmers’ Hunt (South) Branch of the Pony Club had an extremely successful day at the recent Pony Club Area 2 Dressage competition at Cumwhinton. CFHS won both the Open Team and Intermediate Team competitions and Jennifer Pearson was joint 1st in the Individual Open, with Natalie Anderson of Morpeth Hunt, and Sophie Dodds won Section B of the Individual Intermediate, Section A was won by Phillipa Nixon of South Northumberland. Due to the weather the Area Dressage competition has been split into Open and Intermediate last Wednesday at Cumwhinton and Novice and Junior to follow at Brougham on Tuesday 7th August.
The CFHS Open team consisted of Jennifer Pearson who was placed 1st equal, Lucy Langley and Robyn Gray who were 6th equal, placing the team 1st overall. All three girls qualify for the Pony Club Championships which are to be held on August 17th, in Cheshire. Charlotte Smith, competing as an individual only, rode a very good test in the Open competition to finish 8th.
In the Intermediate section the team of Sophie Dodds, Nicolle Murray (3 rd individually), Mel Gray (4th) in and Becky Thompson completed the CFHS fantastic winning streak by taking the Intermediate team trophy and also qualifying for the Championships.
The dressage tests were judged by British Dressage listed judges; Sarah Kingwells, from Preston, commented on how well the competitors rode, showing a great deal of understanding of the correct training and way of going for a dressage horse. Intermediate judges Jenny McDonnell and Naomi Garbutt were also impressed by the overall standard. CFHS Team Trainer Suzanne Richardson was very pleased with the results and is looking forward to hopefully the same success at the Championships.

This was the final event in an annual run of CFHS organising the Area Dressage for the 3 years.
