Much Ado at Brough Castle

Wednesday 22nd August will see the first ever open air performance at Brough Castle, near Kirkby Stephen. Upper Eden Events have teamed up with a professional theatre company Heartbreak Productions to present an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic ‘Much ado About Nothing’ set in post war 1940’s. Heartbreak Productions have an excellent track record of delivering award winning open air theatre across the entire country. Audiences describe the performances as ‘Theatre at its best with stunning acting and an enchanting atmosphere’.

Diane Beckwith from Brough Castle said “This is a new approach for us at the Castle, for years we have felt that the Castle has been under utilised and the opportunity to stage a professional open air production is very exciting for us. With the appalling weather conditions we have had so far this year we are concerned that people will be put off form
booking tickets too far in advance but we will be erecting a marquee for the event to offer shelter if needed.”

Maddy Kerr from Heartbreak Events said “Brough Castle is a stunning venue for our performance and offers the perfect backdrop to create a dramatic atmosphere for our engaging adaptation which will have the skies filled with roars of laughter.”

The performance will begin at 7.30pm and tickets are on sale now from either Brough Castle Ice Cream Shop or the Upper Eden Visitors Centre in Kirkby Stephen tel 017683 71199. Adults £12, Concessions £8.
