Police are continuing to investigating an incident that was reported at 3:00 pm on Wednesday 29th August on the dual carriageway of the A66 at Redhills , Penrith. A HGV stopped in a lay-by and a number of people were seen to jump from the rear of the vehicle and run away. Following a search of the area, six men, aged 15, 18, 22, 21 and two aged 25, of Afghan origin were arrested on suspicion of being illegal immigrants.
Police officers believe that they have caught everyone who jumped from the van and no one remains outstanding. They would like to thank members of the public for all of their help. The UK Board Agency will continue with the investigation.
