Major works begins next month to prevent homes flooding in Penrith

Major work is to begin next month on sewer improvements in Penrith. United Utilities plans to install larger pipes in Castletown, to help stop the occasional flooding of local homes. The six-month project will be carried out on Howard Street, Cross Street, Mill Street and Gilwilly Road.

The water company said road closures would be phased so that no more than one section of road would be closed at any one time.Businesses and footpaths will be open as usual. Work on the first section of the project will start the first week in October.
