Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue said he schoolboy fro Buckinhamshire fell from Jack's Rake at Stickle Tarn, in the Langdale Pikes mountain range and had serious head injuries. They are not thought to be life-threatening.
An RAF Sea King helicopter took the boy and his father to the major trauma centre at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary where he arrived in a stable condition.
