Leading North West law firm Brabners Chaffe Street has nominated Children’s Hospices North West as its chosen charity for 2012. The firm will support hospices which are local to each of its offices in Preston, Liverpool and Manchester, namely Derian House in Chorley, Lancashire, Claire House on the Wirral and Francis House in Manchester.
Children’s Hospices North West came top in a staff vote and the partnership was announced at the firm’s staff conference last month. The hospices are all part of the ‘Together for Short Lives’ campaign – which is the charity that benefitted from the X Factor Christmas song of 2011.
As part of its CSR programme Brabners Chaffe Street has a dedicated charity committee who will organise fundraising events over the coming year including quiz nights, auctions and taking part in the BUPA Great Manchester run, the Liverpool marathon and a Morecambe Bay walk. Annual events already in the calendar include the Charity Challenge, an action-packed weekend of canoeing, cycling and hill climbing in the Lake District where teams from different companies across the North West compete to finish the course in the fastest time and ‘Brabners: the Big Idea’, an Apprentice-style contest involving one team from each of the firm’s offices competing against each other to raise the most money for the charity. In addition staff will be encouraged to volunteer and participate in Children’s Hospices’ own collections and events.
Mark Brandwood, Managing Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street commented: “We’re proud of our thriving CSR programme and delighted to pledge our support to Children’s Hospices North West during 2012. Staff at our firm are looking forward to getting involved in a wide range of volunteering and fundraising activities and are planning to raise both money and the profile of the charity within the region.”
Helen Carlson, Area Manager of Children’s Hospices North West said: “Collectively Children’s Hospices North West have to raise a staggering £7.5 million per year to ensure our services remain operational to those who need us most. To gain the support of Brabners Chaffe Street for 2012 is a huge boost to our cause. Having seen the amount of dedication and commitment that was poured into their previous charity we are immensely proud and excited to be associated with Brabners Chaffe Street, a law firm that really does raise the bar when it comes to their charity commitments.”
The firm raised over £47,500 for its 2011 chosen charity Marie Curie Cancer Care.
