Police have formally identified a woman who died when following a collision on the A591 on Wednesday afternoon as 78-year-old Pauline MacLachlan, of The Court, South Craig, Windermere.
Mrs MacLachlan was a passenger in a Toyota Yaris when it left the road at Alice Howe, Windermere, and collided with a dry stone wall at around 1.50pm on Wednesday, 12th May 2010. She was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary where she later died. The 81-year-old man who was driving the car was also injured and taken to RLI with chest injuries where he remains in a stable condition.
The area of the A591 around the incident was closed for about three and a half hours whilst the emergency services dealt with the scene.
