The closure of a popular independent Penrith bookshop has led to the formation of a friends of and Facebook group.
Book lovers travelled from across the Lakes and south west Scotland to use the bookshop, Fair Trade café and meeting room in Angel Square.
Cecilia Hewitt, who was a founder member of the knitters group which met at the Bluebell bookshop in Angel Square said: “A group is being formed called Friends of the Bluebell, for anyone who loves the Bluebell Bookshop and to show our gratitude to Derek for providing such an inspiring, creative space which has enriched the heart of Penrith for the last 30 years.
“There will be a gathering at the Bluebell Bookshop at 1.30 on Tuesday
June 1 for Friends to meet each other and sign up to a membership list.
“The list will remain in the Bluebell afterwards for anyone who cannot come to this
event and we are creating a Facebook page to help Friends keep in touch.”
