Attempted gun robbery – police arrest

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted armed robbery at a petrol station in Cumbria.

Armed officers were alerted by a fellow off-duty police officer to an incident at the petrol shop on Curzon Street, Maryport, at 2am on Thursday, July 29.

Police said a man believed to be holding a gun threatened staff.

Cumbria police officers have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the incident. An imitation firearm was recovered from the scene.
