Domestic beer brewers will have the chance to have their ales tasted at the first Egremont beer festival next month – and may even get sales in pubs afterwards.
The west Cumbria Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is offering the chance for one lucky person and a guest to join the head brewer, Giles Holliday, at Great Gable Brewery, in Egremont, to learn some of the master-craftsman’s secrets.
They will help make the new ale and also assist Mr Holliday in choosing the name of the finished brew, which will be proudly displayed behind the bar at Egremont Beer Festival at the end of October.
All beer-lovers have to do for a chance to scoop the prize, is to email a bid of more than £70 to CAMRA branch chairman Kathryn Flagner at kathryn.flagner@hotmail.co.uk
The beer festival will take place in Egremont Town Hall on October 29 and 30 with 18 beers, three ciders and a perry to choose from.
A number of the beers will be donated by Great Gable Brewery as well as Egremont’s Blackbeck Brewery.
Secretary of west Cumbria CAMRA, Chris de Cordova, said that getting the chance to brew your own beer is a unique opportunity.
Also included in the beer brewing package, by Great Gable brewery, is free entry for the winner and a guest to the beer festival where they get to sample a free pint of their beer at its debut appearance and two free meals at the event.
West Cumbria CAMRA is also offering two sponsorship packages that give local business the chance to advertise at the festival.
The bronze package, costing £30, includes two free entry tickets, two half pint vouchers per person, the company name on a barrel and a mention in the programme. The £70 package includes everything in the £30 package, but covers ten people. For more information, or to purchase a sponsorship package, contact chrisdecordova@gmail.com
Doors for the beer festival open at 6pm until 11pm on Friday and from noon until 5pm and 6pm to 11pm on Saturday.
Entry, payable on the door, is £2 per person per session, or free for CAMRA members.
