Thousands pack out first Stobart Festival

Nearly 6,500 Stobart members, fans and general public flocked to the first ever Stobart Fest – a free event organised by Stobart Group at Rockingham Race Circuit in Northamptonshire.

The company which was founded in Cumbria now has an international following of fans.

The event provided a unique opportunity for fans to get close to some of the famous Eddie Stobart trucks which have helped make the Channel 5 documentary Eddie Stobart: Trucks & Trailers so successful.

It was also a chance for them to meet the heroes of the show – the Stobart drivers who were followed by the cameras throughout the length of the UK and Ireland. The truck drivers spent all day meeting fans, posing for photos and signing autographs in specially produced souvenir programmes.

Members travelled from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and all over England to attend the inaugural event and weren’t disappointed with the diverse display of 15 Eddie Stobart trucks on offer.

The event also gave fans the chance to buy official Stobart merchandise from the on-site shop and many took advantage of the opportunity to take their own model Stobart truck home with them.

Group chief executive Andrew Tinkler dropped in to meet members and fans and was overwhelmed by the attendance and support for the event.

Stobart Fest was also captured by the TV cameras with the event forming a story in series three of the Stobart TV series due for broadcast in January 2012.

Andrew Tinkler, Stobart Group chief executive, said: “It’s been a very successful first running of Stobart Fest and it’s fantastic to see so many people turn out to see our trucks and meet the drivers. Our members club is going from strength to strength and events like this are so important to give something back to our loyal fans.”
