Cumbria Tourist Guides elect multi-lingual executive officers

Blue Badge Tourist Guides have elected a new Committee at their Annual General Meeting held at the offices of Cumbria Tourism, Staveley. 

The newly elected Executive Officers, headed by Alan Heppenstall, Chairman from Grange over Sands, will co-ordinate guiding activities throughout 2012.

The Committee come from all parts of Cumbria and include:
o Tess Pike – Public Relations Officer from Kirkby Lonsdale
o David White – Marketing Officer from Kendal
o Anna Gray – Secretary from Great Corby
o Jill Cannon Jones – Continuing Professional Development Officer from Keswick
o Jill Durnford – Newsletter Editor from Temple Sowerby
o Sally Bickerdyke – Treasurer from Keswick

Members of the group speak a variety of languages including German, Japanese, Italian, Spanish and French.

A series of themed Tour Experiences focusing on the Coniston Valley are planned for 2012.  Blue Badge Guides are working with the Coniston attractions to deliver entertaining and informative tours “by boat, boot and bike”, which will bring the area alive with stories of the people and events that have shaped this fascinating valley.
