Penrith theatre school celebrates 12 years of talent

RAZZAMATAZ Theatre Schools Penrith celebrates their twelfth anniversary this year after it launched in 2000 by Founder and Managing Director of Razzamataz Theatre Schools LTD Denise Hutton Gosney.

The school has originally opened its doors at Penrith Players in 2000, then moved to Penrith Conservative club, the school briefly relocated to Carlisle and re-launched in 2006 by Charlotte Young and is now held at the fantastic facilities at Penrith Leisure Centre. Since its launch Razzamataz Penrith has seen many talented local youngsters attend the performing arts classes during this time.

Principal of the Penrith Razzamataz Theatre School, Charlotte Young said: “The students in Penrith are enthusiastic and eager to develop and progress whether it is confidence building, technique or performance skills, it is incredible to see these young people grow and develop during their time with us at Razzamataz”

The students at Penrith have been fortunate to take part in events and performances at Rheged, Penrith Players, Ullswater School, QEGS School, The Sands Centre Carlisle and Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End during the 2010 Gala Performance for Razzamataz Theatre Schools LTD.

Students are encouraged to take part in external workshops periodically and have previously included Kylie’s Choreographer Tim Noble’s Pure Star Workshops and the Hip Hop Company famous for ‘Into the Hoods’ and ‘Some Like it Hip Hop’, ZooNation.

Razzamataz Penrith continues to bring funky fresh dance, drama and singing classes in a safe and secure environment for Parents/Guardians. Charlotte Young the Principal and Dance Teacher who has just celebrated her 6th year anniversary with the school and has successfully become the ONLY fully qualified street dance teacher in Scotland and Cumbria by gaining an Associate Diploma in Performing Arts (Level 4) with Urban Strides. This is a government recognised qualification and one of the only teacher training courses in the world covering authentic street dance styles.

FREE taster sessions are available for students to try out the Razzamataz experience at the term-time sessions held after school on Wednesdays at The Penrith Leisure Centre.
