Police are investigating the theft of wine from a shop in Ulverston. At about 3pm on Thursday 29th March 2012, a white male, believed to be in his late forties to fifties, went into the Spar shop on Central Drive on the Croftlands Estate in Ulverston.
He selected two bottles of wine and placed them on the counter. He attempted to pay for the wine with his card and while he was waiting for the transaction to go through, he placed the wine in his ruck sack. The transaction was then declined. The male told the assistant that he would go to his car to get another way of paying for the wine. The assistant asked him to leave the wine in the shop while he went outside but he kept the wine in his rucksack. The male did not return to pay for the wine.
The male is described as being in his late forties to early fifties, 5' 10" tall, clean shaven, short hair and wearing a blue baseball cap, a blue zip up jacket, blue denim 3/4 crop trousers and trainers and carrying a small rucksack.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or recognised the male or may have information should call PC Mark Turner at Ulverston Police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
