Local MP Tim Farron is encouraging local villages in the South Lakes to think about putting themselves forward for this years 'Village SOS' show. 'Village SOS' is a joint initiative with the BBC and the Big Lottery Fund giving rural villages a chance to venture into new community enterprises and providing them with a new lease of life.
Village SOS is looking to award grants of between £10,000-£50,000 for enterprising community projects, and any community with less than 3,000 residents is invited to apply. The competition hopes to support ideas that will inspire and bring together rural communities as well as kick-starting new and exciting businesses.
Local MP Tim Farron has commented: ''This opportunity could give our enterprising local communities the help they need. During my advice surgeries and many visits I am so lucky to see so many wonderful community schemes and I hope that they put themselves forward as I know £30,000 really could make a massive difference to some villages in the South Lakes."
