Final Police Authority meeting

Cumbria Police Authority will hold its final meeting on Tuesday 30th October. The Police Authority is being replaced by the new Police and Crime Commissioner(PCC) which is due to be elected on 15th November. The Police Authority will remain the governing body until the PCC officially takes office on the 22 November. After the 22 November the Police Authority will cease.

Cumbria Police Authority,Chair, Ray Cole (pictured) said: “Cumbria Police Authority has worked as a body to provide challenge, scrutiny and oversight to Cumbria
Constabulary for the last 18 years. The 17 Police Authority members have worked relentlessly on behalf of the people of Cumbria to ensure the most efficient and effective service has been delievered to keep Cumbria safe.

“The Governement has decided the new Police and Crime Commissioner will replace the Police Authority. A significant amount of background work has taken place to ensure a smooth transition to the new structure and I trust that the good work by the Police Authority is built upon for the benefit of the people of Cumbria.”

The final meeting of the Cumbria Police Authority will take place on Tuesday 30th October at Police Headquarters, Penrith.
