Ceilidh in Support of Christian Aid

St. Mary's Church in Threlkeld is teaming up with Threlkeld Activities Association to hold a fund raising ceilidh for the charity Christian Aid . This year the event will be held at the end of Christian Aid week, on Friday May 19th.Christian Aid was founded over seventy years ago and is today working in over sixty countries, some of them the poorest countries in the world. The charity motto is 'we believe in life before death ' and to this end they work to alleviate poverty, which robs people of freedom and power over their own lives. They work with local organisations regardless of race or religion. This year they have worked to support the appeals for help in Syria and Nepal and have funded the building of shelters and provision of essential household items in South Sudan. They help both during and after emergencies and are also helping with problems related to climate change and tax injustice.

If you would like to help them fight poverty – and have fun at the same time - come along to the Ceilidh at Threlkeld Village Hall on Friday May 19th. There will be a children's ceilidh from 6:15 - 7pm, entrance £1 (pay on the door).  The main Ceilidh starts at 7:30 - 10:30pm, entrance £7/£4 under 18. There will be a licensed bar.
