Carlisle to host a five-day International open-air market this Easter.

Stalls selling a range of products from around the world will be open from Thursday, 5 April right through to 6pm on Easter Monday. The market will be based within the city centre pedestrianised area. Stalls will be open on: Thursday - Saturday, 9am to 6pm; Easter Sunday 10am to 4pm and Easter Monday, 9am to 6pm.

The award winning International Market will set up its stalls throughout the city centre along English Street. The International Market was recently awarded the titles of the UK’s Best Speciality Market 2012 and the UK’s Greenest Speciality Market 2011.

The Carlisle City Council organised event will be a wonderful shopping and leisure experience with the opportunity to taste and buy foods from around the world as well as buying some very unusual products from almost every corner of the globe. And when you want to take the weight off your feet why not sit back and relax in one of the bars whether it is the German Bar, Polish Street bar, one of the best wine bars serving wines from the Kochems Vineyard in the Mosel valley and finally a great new cider bar.

Stalls from as far away as Peru and Ecuador to the Lappish part of Finland; Africa to Ireland and traders from around mainland Europe will provide a truly International flavour adding life colour and vibrancy to the centre of Carlisle.

Part of the Market will be a blaze of colour where the Flying Dutchman Dirk van De Wardt will set up a wonderful display of plants, shrubs, bulbs and trees.

Some of the favourites will include Paella made to an old family recipe from Cordoba in Spain, the German Bratwurst stall, Crepes and Gallettes from France, pofitjes (mini pancakes to you and me) from Holland and not to forget exotic meats such as kangaroo, Ostrich Alligator and Wild Boar plus lots more street food to try.
