Police ask public to call 0845 number in non emergencies following problems with 101

Cumbria Constabulary is asking the public to contact police on their alternative number in non-emergency situations  if they experience difficulties with the 101 telephone number. Cable and Wireless are working round the clock to address the ongoing issues and are in regular contact with the Constabulary to report on their progress.

Callers using 101 may be experiencing a constant 'engaged' tone or be informed that the system cannot identify the caller. This is being dealt with as a priority by Cable and Wireless and while the repairs take place, Cumbria police are advising  people  that  the 0845 33 00 247 number is still available for non-emergencies.

Please only dial 999 in emergencies.
