Seventh person arrested in connection with Carlisle murder

A seventh person has been arrested in connection with a murder in Carlisle last weekend. An 18 year old man from Carlisle, also of Polish origin, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder last night as a result of police enquiries. He remains in police custody this morning, 17 October, along with six others who remain under arrest. Warrants for further detention were granted by the courts last night so police officers have more time to question them today.

Piotr Kulinski, aged 32, who was living in Carlisle but originated from Poland was attacked on Arnside Road in the city on Sunday 14 October 2012 at 6am in the morning. Tragically, he died from his injuries.

A team of detectives are dedicated to this enquiry and are continuing to scour through CCTV and have been speaking to local residents, businesses and witnesses to establish what happened on Sunday morning.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Duhig said: “We are absolutely dedicated to uncovering the evidence we need to give Mr Kulinski’s family the answers they deserve.

“We have been speaking to witnesses but are convinced there are more people out there who can help us. Please, if you were in the area at the time, or have any information that can help us piece together exactly what happened that morning or in the lead up to this tragedy, get in touch.

“We will do what we can to support you and you may have the piece of information that is vital to our enquiry.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Carlisle CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
