Outstanding Cumbria MS nurse wins national award

Judith Brassington, a Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Specialist Nurse from Cumbria, has won the national ‘My Super Nurse Award 2012’ – receiving the most nominations from patients of all the nurses involved. The MS Trust charity announced her win on 16th May 2012. Just some of the inspirational comments received about Judith are below:

*       “Judith is positive about MS, full of energy and very supportive.”
*       “Judith has been amazing; she has been to our MS hall on several occasions to give talks on various subjects. But for me personally she has gone out of her way to help. I can't praise her enough.”
*       “Judith is our first MS nurse for our area, she shows outstanding commitment to her patients and we would certainly be lost without her.”
*       “Judith has been a lifeline for me, nothing is any trouble. The world needs more Judith Brassingtons.”

Judith, who is based in Ulverston and works for Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, said: "The call from the MS Trust came out of the blue. There are MS Nurses throughout the country working hard to improve the lives of people affected by MS so I was shocked to find out that I’d won! It was lovely to read the comments the patients had sent in about me and I became quite tearful reading them.

"The MS Nurse Service in Cumbria is relatively new and it is great to hear such positive feedback. For patients to go out of their way to nominate me for the award is a very humbling experience.

"The MS Trust sent me a lovely Lilly plant and a card which was much appreciated. The MS Trust is such an important charity as they provide education for health professionals and information for those people affected by MS. I would like to thank all the patients who took the time to nominate me.”
