Police name man killed in Devil's Bridge plunge

Police can confirm that the man who died after jumping into the River Lune on Saturday has been formally identified as Darrell Teal, 22, from Manchester. Mr.Teal of Booth Drive, Manchester has been formally identified after being discovered in the River Lune on Saturday evening.

Just after 5pm on Saturday 21st July 2012, police were called to Kirkby Lonsdale following concerns for a man who had entered the River Lune close to Devil's Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale. Officers attended along with Fire and Rescue and volunteers from the local Mountain Rescue Team.  Specialists from the Underwater Police Diving Unit also attended the scene.

Just before midnight and after a search of the river and its banks, Mr Teal’s body was recovered a short distance downstream from Devil's Bridge. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at this time and the case has been passed to the coroner.
