Star search launched for new talent in Ulverston, Kendal and South Lakes

What’s your talent? Are you an aspiring comedian, a dancer or a magician? Maybe you have an unusual talent like juggling or impressions? Whatever your talent, the search is on for local people with a knack for entertaining.

Auditions for Star Search Kendal and South Lakes get underway at K Village in Kendal in early September, with two age categories (8-18s and over 18s). The finalists from each category will then have the chance to take part in a grand final at Windermere’s Low Wood Hotel in October.

The overall under 18s winner will go away with a free term at the Stagecoach Drama School, a cash prize and a savings account at The Cumberland Building Society. Meanwhile, the over 18s winner will get a recording studio session or photo shoot, alongside a cash prize. Both will also have the opportunity to perform alongside Britain’s Got Talent’s Steven Hall at Kendal’s Christmas Lights switch on.

Mandy Dixon, General Manager at K Village, says, “Star Search is a great opportunity to uncover some great new talent from our local area and we want people of all ages to come and have a go. This is all about local people showing what they can do, whether it’s singing, dancing, magic, acrobatics or even ventriloquism. It might even be a completely unique and wacky talent that makes everyone sit up and take notice! With a free recording session and a term at drama school on offer, who knows what doors it could open?”
