Plans revealed for biomass power station at Roosecote

Centrica is proposing to obtain consent to build and operate a new dedicated biomass fuelled electricity generating station at Roosecote, Barrow-in-Furness. The Roosecote Biomass Power Station, with a power output of 80 megawatts (net) 90 megawatts (gross), would be constructed on the site of the existing gas- fired power station.

The determining authority for this nationally significant infrastructure project is the Planning Inspectorate, which has now invited interested parties to formally register their interest in the project. This allows people or parties to participate in the examination of the planning application - which could include attending the preliminary meeting that will consider the key issues which need to be examined at a later stage, the timetable for the Examination and also present further written evidence once the Examination is underway.

Further information on what registering an interest involves is available here from Cumbria County Council. The opportunity to register an interest closes on 7 September 2012 at 11:59pm
