One man show will have audiences laughing for England

Man of many talents Michael Lunts will be bringing his one-man show By George! to Theatre by the Lake’s Studio space. The actor, singer and pianist will be performing his hysterical show over three days from Mon 16 until Wed 18 July at 8pm, with a 2pm matinée on Wednesday. Taking a light-hearted look at the English, this performance is perfect for anyone who likes a good giggle.

By George! casts a witty eye on the subject of Englishness in an intimate revue of comedy songs. Alongside a number of musical offerings from such arch-observers of the national character as Noël Coward, Gilbert and Sullivan and Flanders and Swann, Michael contributes some of his own original material to his latest show. It is an entertaining, affectionate and often hilarious foray through the quirks of a people who do not always take themselves as seriously as those stiff upper lips might suggest.

Michael has been combining music, both popular and classical, with his passion for drama for just about as long as he can remember, working in regional and West End theatre as both actor and Musical Director. He has created a series of popular one-man shows which have been performed all over the world and By George! is the latest in a string of fantastic and acclaimed productions.  

Created in response to requests from a number of organisations, including the National Liberal Club in London, it is a celebration of England and the English without being either jingoistic or overly sentimental. By George! focuses on a characteristic for which the English are famous; their sense of humour. Examples range from the sublime to the ridiculous; from the sophisticated to the plain daft, by those celebrating the English as well as those poking fun.
