Cumbrian and UK companies are set to benefit from an external, tailor-made payroll service which will save them money and create other efficiencies, according to Simply Bureau, a new venture launched by the NRL Group.
Companies currently expend valuable time on payroll, paying salaries for workers, which can be done quicker and cheaper by experienced companies with appropriate systems. Sally Markham, who heads up the BACS Approved Bureau as Group Payroll Manager, explains: “Increasingly employers have realised that it makes commercial sense to outsource many of their internal functions. Payroll is an ideal area.”
As a result, Simply Bureau works for a business services client, processing 1500 workers per week, and a large client within the construction industry.
It is not only larger companies that benefit from outsourcing. “Start-ups and SMEs of all sizes often find it more cost-effective to hand over the payroll function to efficient external agencies,” says Sally. “We’ve started working with a number of smaller businesses, including a hotel with just 15 members of staff.”
She went on to add, “There are other efficiencies besides saving money. We’re regularly finding that where someone in a company is appointed to look after payroll, it’s often an extra task, and one that takes them away from the function where they excel. Outsourcing payroll frees up the employee to make the maximum use of time, to the benefit of the business.”
Tax efficiency is also of vital importance to companies operating in the current difficult economic climate. Customers of Simply Bureau will also have access to the group’s resident tax expert, Phil Mackay. In addition to being a qualified accountant, Phil is a Chartered Tax Adviser.
