People are being encouraged to enjoy Easter activities in one of the most unspoilt areas of the Lake District thanks to a landmark partnership. Wild Ennerdale is hosting a variety of events over the next month, including a family Easter egg hunt on Good Friday April 6, with a suitably chocolatey prize (sponsored by Cadbury) for sleuths that can solve all the clues. The cost is £2 per child with no booking required.
On Tuesday, April 10, there is Playdays in the Woods; a magical woodland family adventure based around nature exploration. Cost is £6.00 for adults and £4.20 for children, and places are limited – please book online at www.wildennerdale.co.uk/events.
The rare Red Squirrel is the focus of the day on Thursday, April 12, with a relaxing walk around the western edge of Ennerdale water, learning how the squirrels are being protected and how people can help. The walk is free, but booking is required on 07712 751060.
Gareth Browning, Forestry Commission Area Forester and one of the lead partners in Wild Ennerdale, says:“The wild unspoilt Ennerdale valley is a great place to bring children and let them run free this Easter.
“There’s plenty of space for adventure, the scenery is stunning and you may even be lucky enough to go home with an Easter egg.”
The breath-taking scenery of Ennerdale can also be explored with two other events in April. On Tuesday, April 3, there will be the opportunity to help capture it in all its spring glory, with a free photo walk including hints and tips on how people can get the most from their cameras.
The more energetic will have the opportunity to explore the fells around Ennerdale on Wednesday, April 18, with a high level guided mountain walk with an experienced mountain leader.
