Local band to make Cumbria's Olympic torch visit go with a bang

Workington based drumming group Beat It Up will herald the arrival of the Olympic torch in Carlisle on Wednesday the 20th June. The dynamic and fast-paced percussion group will use original Cumbrian ‘Boom Dang’ drums to create a lively support to accompany the torch and its spectators on its path across Cumbria.

BIU has already had their first summer outing with a performance at this year’s Paint the town Red festival held in Workington. The group were very well received gaining a wide round of applause from organisers and spectators of the event and already have invites coming in thick and fast for carnivals and events across Cumbria throughout the summer months.

The Beat It Up drumming group currently meet on a Monday nights, 5:30 – 7pm at The Carnegie Theatre & Arts Centre, Finkle Street Workington. The group is free to join and open to anyone between the ages of 13 and 19, no experience necessary. Places are limited and subject to availability. Booking is essential.
