A number of agencies have been working together today to deal with the floods experience in West Cumbria..Some roads in the county remain closed, in Whitehaven Market Street and Coach Road are closed. Also some routes in St Bees are also not passable at the moment. At this time, there have been no reports of anyone being injured or hurt.
Advice to all motorists is to take care, the A595 currently has a lot of surface water and therefore people should take their time and be mindful of the road conditions. Keep a safe distance from other cars and slow down when driving through standing water.
Conditions will be monitored overnight, but with the rainfall now easing, people will be assessing the damage caused and advice and guidance is available on our website to help. Information can be obtained at http://www.cumbria.police.uk/advice-and-information/personal-safety/floods
